In 1957, Ted Geisel (aka Dr. Seuss) wrote a children�s book in response to a controversial article by John Hershey. The article examined the poor primers used in children�s education, contending that they were boring, uninspired, and did not contain enough words to endow children with a decent vocabulary.� Inspired by the challenge presented in Hershey�s article, Dr Seuss set out to create an educational primer in which children would be interested. �The story is almost entirely monosyllabic to enhance readability, and has been considered a literary feat by critics since its publication.� However, its readers know it as the entertaining children�s book with rich illustrations of an iconic cat in his red and white hat.� Since its publication, the book has spurred other educational Cat In The Hat games and The Cat In The Hat activities, many of which can be found at FuntoCollect.com.
